2017 brought many new changes to my life with the passing of my darling husband. Opportunities to reconnect with my love of boats was chief among them. I fell under the spell of their shapes and textures, the sparkle of light on water. A new body of work has begun with a focus on the West Coast world around us. Fishing boats, fishing trawlers, sailboats and the whole marine world is my visual playground here in BC even though I no longer am a boat owner myself.
I’ve been photographing boats for many years but this year am searching out these fine old gals more seriously. My camera sees what I cannot see with my naked eye and the artistic filter draws magic from the murky depths of the water.
Abstract landscapes, skyscapes, waterscapes… I see beauty everywhere.
