Expressive colorful dance painting is one of my passions. I’m very connected to our local contemporary dance community. I have the great privilege of photographing their dress rehearsals and capturing their dramatic movements in my own colorful slow motion style.
Dance photography is so exciting! And photography leads to dynamic dance paintings in oils and watercolors in the studio later!
Ballet, contemporary dance, tap, lyrical… My focus is composition & storytelling. I try to capture the energy the dancers leave behind as they dazzle us with exciting shapes, movements, shadows, costumes, how the light trails as they fly across the stage giving their ALL. I take intimate moments and when they’re truly lost in their art form and make them into mine.
I’m honored to be a part of our local and very professional Nutcracker Ballet. I made 5 costumes for the group in 2012 and continue to do in depth photography on stage and backstage where some lovely little dramas play out as well.
From the charming small children costumed as mice and angels to the adults principals, the Snow Queen and her Cavalier, Dew Drop Fairy, thrilling us en pointe in their bejeweled ornate tutus, it’s truly and winter wonderland. When the real snow falls down at the end of Act One in the Land of the Snow Queen, it is pure exquisiteness and magic.
Colorful dance paintings, beautiful dancers in oils, watercolor, gouaches, inks.
