The Catalyst Pulp Mill is an important feature in Powell River and gorgeous plumes of steam rise from its towering chimneys constantly. ON this crisp autumn day, I parked just outside the delicious Royal Zayka Indian restaurant and captures the pair of trees in their beautiful Fall colors. I really concentrated on the swirling sky and clouds. I'd love to attempt plein air skies like this but the weather has been too chilly until now.

It was a very blustery day and I drew from inside my car with my blanket on my lap. Plein air painting inside my car is MUCH safer with digital painting than with oils! Watercolors work well but not oils or acrylics, not in MY car anyways...

Lots of layers of transparent digital watercolor wash, marker effects and gel pen.
