When I accidentally cut down some lovely pink roses in my garden, I quickly snipped them into two vases and painted them from life over a week. Having my subject sit still for days was a big change from plein air painting with shifting weather conditions... and barking dogs...

Like all my subjects, I work on interpreting them rather than reproducing them. I'm letting my mark-making bring them to life with many layers of glazing in oil paints.
