Molly’s Reach, plein air painting
At Jan Poynter’s wonderful Paint Out 2014 event, I finally gave it a whirl trying to capture our famous Molly’s Reach restaurant in watercolors. It was the home of The Beachcomber’s TV show which ran for 19 seasons. Here’s some tourists taking pictures of the facade as I capture them in quick study sketching.

Plein air watercolour in Gibsons fishing harbour
I edited and amalgamated some elements to bring this one to life over about 2 hours.
Waxy China markers and watercolors on 32 x 41 cm Canson Moulin du Roy 160 gram paper.
Here's my nice set up in the shade under the BBQ Shack. Hubby is set up beside me capturing the harbor and some visiting 12 year olds who soon appeared in his view having a wonderful morning fishing on their way to a baseball game up the hill.
Plein air painting in the lovely vineyards in the Okanagan near Penticton. We cycled along the Kettle Valley Trail and stopped at a few wineries to sip and paint, delightful...
As we've always been boaters here on BC's West Coast until 2013, we finally took a trip by car (what a concept???) to BC's Interior. Fantastic! We'll head back next September after Paint Out for another trip and sip!
